Last week, someone new wrote the Gaian Reflection: Nikki Woods, the Gaian Way’s new Communications Director. If you haven’t read her bio already, Nikki is a celebrated media expert, entrepreneur, and the founder of Out of the Woods Digital PR and Marketing Agency. She spent over 12 years as an on-air radio personality and then ten more as executive producer of the nationally syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show. Over several decades, Nikki has honed the art of effective storytelling and media engagement.
In the fewer than two months she’s been with our little organization, Nikki has already brought us to a whole new level in communicating our philosophy, Earth-grounded insights, and the two projects we started last year (Earth Eclectic and Cycles of Gaia). Truthfully, I’m still in shock she found us (our free job application was up on LinkedIn for just 24 hours before it hit the viewing limit), but I’m thrilled—and deeply grateful—that she did.
In an earlier post, I mentioned that the Gaian Way is kind of like the proverbial tree that no one hears (as it rustles beautifully in the wind, not as it falls). But Nikki has helped change that very quickly, adding new videos to YouTube, clipping gems from a discussion with author Ferris Jabr, creating video versions of Bart Everson’s wheel of the year guided meditations, and sharing shortened (and yes, more punchy) versions of our winding reflections to LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, even Instagram. So I want to welcome Nikki, and introduce readers to her great work, and to the communications revolution that’s been happening at the Gaian Way since the start of the year. Below are a few favorites of what Nikki has created so far, and if you want more, I encourage you to follow and explore the Gaian Way’s feeds, including on YouTube, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and Instagram (whichever of those services you use/tolerate!).1

But more than just create a series of powerful visuals and videos, Nikki has also been perceiving our work with fresh eyes, asking questions that have sparked new insights, updates, and efforts. One example: encouraging the asking of musical artists to do Earth Eclectic shout outs (like this one), and overviews of episodes on social media (with author tags), like this one:

I could go on, but instead I encourage you to check out Nikki’s excellent work yourself across the social media platforms you use, and particularly on YouTube.2
Do you have a favorite Gaian reflection or practice? Share it in a comment and we may feature it on YouTube or social media!
Endnotes
1) A special shoutout to Krystal Jasmine Garnett as well for her great work sustaining the Gaian Way’s Mastodon account. For those unfamiliar, that’s a new open-source, non-monetized social media platform. Krystal has been maintaining our presence there since July 2024.
2) In our discussion of technology use and Gaia, one participant noted that not using social media (because we find it distasteful, addictive, manipulative, etc.) means that we’re leaving it to those who are exploiting it, and leaving it to its more crass uses. That is very true, and it is very exciting that Gaian philosophy might now catch someone’s eye, pulling them toward healthier, more Earth-centric content, or maybe even away from their computers and into nature, and a healthier relationship with Gaia.
